Newsletter February & March 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you all well. It is hard to believe we are so far into the second term already. From the content of the newsletter you will see it has been a very busy term with a lot happening both from an academic and an extracurricular perspective.

I would like to thank all the parents and staff for their continued support and hard work. I would also like to thank all those involved in the Parents’ Association Events. Your hard work and efforts are very much appreciated here in Scoil Mhuire na nÁird.

Liberty Recycling

A big thanks to everyone who brought in clothes for the Liberty Collection. A total of €360 was raised for the school.

Shrove Tuesday

Pancake Tuesday was a big hit with the children as usual! Huge thanks to all involved. Approx €250 was raised, this money will go towards much needed new classroom furniture for the 5th and 6th classroom.

“You Shall be my Witness” Confirmation Meetings

I’d like to thank all the 6th class parents for their continued support with Confirmation Preparations both at home and in school. I’d like to extend a very sincere thank you to the three parents who gave so generously of their time to ensure this year’s programme was successful. The children enjoyed and benefitted from the experience in equal measure.

Attendance

The names of pupils plus reasons for absences have been forwarded to TÚSLA for pupils who have missed 20 days or more since September. Pupil attendance in school is very important. Parents are reminded that pupils should only miss school for illness or exceptional family circumstances. Please be sure to send in a note to the class teacher if your child has been absent.

GAA Blitz

Well done to 5th and 6th class who travelled to Ballinakill with Ms. Murphy for the final on Friday 23rd. They won the B Final and most importantly had a great day.

Reminder: Enrolments for School Year 2018/2019

Just a reminder to hand in/post the Enrolment Form if you have a child starting in Junior Infants in September 2018. The Induction Day for next year’s Junior Infants is still to be confirmed but it will be late May or early June.
